Every day for nine years Fernando Oreste Nannetti (1927 - 1994) engraved texts on the facades of the psychiatric hospital in Volterra (Italy), where he was interned. The words traced in stone using the metallic point of his vest buckle, part of the uniform that each patient wears, unfold over 70 meters in length in several walls of the internal courtyard of the hospital.

A real open-air wall-book that reveals an astonishing world, between dream and reality, science and imagination.

Convinced of being linked to supernatural and cosmic presences, Nannetti poetically recreates his exchanges with the interstellar universe, as with the earth and its viscera.

This colossal work has been the subject of exhibitions and all of its texts have been deciphered, transcribed and translated by the Collection de l'Art Brut in Lausanne.

As an exhibition curator, passionate about the secret webs that our society weaves between peripheries and centers, Gustavo Giacosa has presented the work of Nannetti in several exhibitions.

After a theoretical and aesthetic approach, with the complicity of the composer Fausto Ferraiuolo he wanted to give a vital breath to what can be perceived as a silent cry, even suffocated in the walls of confinement.
